In art, the term Still Life is used to describe that genre that doesn’t represent human life but is a reproduction of flowers, fruits or inanimate objects. In contrast to this and succeeding in making the public instead of seeing the work as a lifeless spectacle, in this exhibition, the painter opens up for us a new and distinct vision to which he gives the title, Natures Vivantes. He titles it so, because these fruits and flowers although already cut remain alive, this life force that remains in a very ephemeral ambit of space and time. However, to see it reflected in a painting, it remains fixed in our memories and we can say and even affirm than it becomes eternal.

With Natures Vivantes the artist manages to pay homage to the plant kingdom as a great universal purifier. An homage to the beautiful shapes, to the colours and to the harmony that the plant world provides us with. Qualities that are offered from a humble position, full of love that radiate from the canvas. This life, this recognition, this freshness are evident in each brush-stroke, so that every painting radiates light in the fullest meaning of the word.

The choice of motif is not simply by chance or of simply looking at things which are obviously beautiful; Jean-François Millet said “use the trivial to express the sublime”, and this is what the Catalan painter achieves. Behind something apparently insignificant, the apples, the roses or the sun take on a whole new set of symbols. The apple, still attached to the tree of knowledge, never stops being the forbidden fruit of paradise which leads to sin through its beauty and its essence. First Eve and then through seduction, Adam. The roses by their colour and their lightness make us think of femininity, subtlety, purity, creative energy and spirituality. His work moves us. Everything is beauty and life expressed as the essence of the obvious without this being evident.

En arte se utiliza el término Naturalezas Muertas para designar a aquel género que no representa la vida humana sino que es una reproducción de flores, frutas, o elementos inanimados. En contraposición a este matiz con el que se consigue que el público se enfrente a la obra como un espectáculo sin vida, en esta exposición el autor nos abre a una visión distinta y nueva titulándola Natures Vivantes. Y lo hace porque estas frutas y flores aun cortadas guardan vida, esa vida que queda insertada en un espacio-tiempo muy efímero. Sin embargo, al reflejarse en un cuadro, al quedar grabada en nuestra memoria, se podría decir, e incluso asegurar, que se vuelve eterna.

Con Natures Vivantes el artista consigue hacer un homenaje al reino vegetal como gran depurador universal. Un homenaje a las bellas formas, a los colores y a la armonía que nos ofrece el vegetal. Cualidades ofrecidas desde una posición de humildad, la de aquel que las observa con todo el amor que luego irradian desde el lienzo. Esa vida, ese reconocimiento y esa frescura son las que están latentes en cada pincelada, y las que consiguen que un cuadro irradie luz, entendiendo ésta en toda la acepción de la palabra.

La elección de los motivos no responde ni mucho menos al azar o al simple placer de reposar la mirada en elementos obviamente bellos; Jean–François Millet decía “uso lo trivial para expresar lo sublime”, y esto es lo que consigue el pintor catalán. Tras una apariencia de intrascendencia, las manzanas, las rosas o el astro sol, encierran toda una simbología. La manzana, aún prendida del árbol del conocimiento, no deja de ser el fruto prohibido del paraíso que hace pecar a través de su belleza y su jugo. Primero a Eva y después, interviniendo la seducción, a Adán. Las rosas mediante su color y su ligereza nos conectan con la feminidad, lo sutil, la pureza, la energía de creación, la espiritualidad. Su obra conmociona y estremece. Es todo un ensamblaje de belleza y vida expresada como la esencia de lo obvio sin que por ello sea evidente.
